Women who strengthened Health Information Management

There have been many women who have made significant contributions to the field of health information management (HIM), including:

1. Grace Whiting Myers: Myers was a pioneer in HIM and played a key role in establishing the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) in 1928. She served as the association's first president and was instrumental in developing the professional standards for HIM practitioners.
2. Elizabeth Farrand: Farrand was a trailblazer in HIM and was the first woman to hold the position of director of medical records at a hospital. She also played a key role in the development of the first standardized medical record in the United States.
3. Wylecia Wiggs Harris, PhD, CAE : Harris currently serves as the CEO of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), a professional association for over 103,000 health information management professionals. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the organization's operations, strategic direction, and advocacy efforts on behalf of its members. Wiggs is a well-known leader and advocate in the non-profit sector. She has served as the CEO of multiple non-profit organizations and has extensive experience in strategic planning, fundraising, and organizational management.
